8.3 What is OCR and how can I do it?

OCR is used for scanning text documents and putting the information into a word processor (such as Microsoft Word) which can be edited.
To scan using OCR use the "HP Precisionscan Pro" application
on computer A8 or A9 in Coffman Hall Room B060's computer facility.

  • Click on the icon next to "Start a new scan."
  • Choose "Text & Image" from the menu under step 3.
  • Click on the icon next to "Scan To.." (step 5)
  • Select MS Word and click on "Scan."
