NOTES ON SETTING SCANNING TO BEST RESOLUTION

If you are scanning the image to use it on...

  1. a printer and are scanning from...
  2. a display (or the web). If it is important that the image remains the size you have choosen on a display you need to save your image at the proper dpi. In order to orchestrate this you will need to decide what screen resolution and monitor size you want to view the image on. To calculate the dpi you need take the screens width in pixels and divide by the physical width of the screen in inches. The following table gives examples:
